Tap your creative dress designer genes and have the best-dressed doll!
This month we will be making a Party Dress for 18” dolls (American Girl sized) from Erin Hentzel's “a dress for every occasion Doll Dress Boutique” book (required for class).

November will feature Chapter 6 “Party Dress”, view B. While this dress can be made on any domestic sewing machine, opportunities utilizing enhanced sewing skills such as the use of a serger, specialized feet, decorative stitches, and trim applications will be highlighted and explored.

Plan to join me to create that special party dress for a child’s doll or dress your own for the holidays!

Supplies: Book - “Doll Dress Boutique” by Erin Hentzel
Sewing machine, power cord, foot control, extra needles, standard foot, 1/4” foot (optional), Gathering foot (optional), 1/8” foot (optional), Felling Foot (optional, Edge joining foot (optional) Button foot ((optional) Sewing machine manual Fabric shears, thread snippers, fabric marking pen, seam gauge, seam ripper, straight pins, etc.

Fabric and notions: 5/8 yard fabric for dress, 1/4 yard fabric for underskirt, one fat quarter or 1/3 yard of complimentary fabric for neck ruffle and bias binding, 1 yard of lace trim ( 1” to 1 1/2” wide), 7 1/4” x 30” for underskirt, 7 1/4” x 30” for overskirt, 1 1/2” x 22” for neckline ruffle, 1/4” x 14” bias trim (cut on bias) for neckline, two 1 1/4” x 5 1/4” bias trim (cut on bias) for sleeves Spool thread to match dress fabrics, decorative or contrasting thread for ruffled rolled edge (optional) 1/4 yard hook and loop tape (velcro) 5 buttons - approx. 3/8” diameter Narrow ribbon (optional) Pattern pieces bodice front 33, bodice back 34, sleeve 32, (I suggest you download the pattern pdf from the website located at the bottom of the center column on page 7 and only print the pages with the pattern pieces noted above. Make certain you are printing at 100% scale.)





Requirements: The book: Doll Dress Boutique: Sew 40+ Projects for 18" Dolls - A Dress for Every Occasion By Erin Hentzel. Students will receive a 15% discount on the book and all materials for the class purchased at Maggie's. Sewing machine in good working order with needles, bobbins and the Operations Manual if you have it. If you do not have a sewing machine, one will be provided for you. There will be different fabric and notion requirements for each month. The supply list will be provided to students upon registration. Bring your lunch. Snacks are welcome!
