Beginning Quilting with Debbie

Join Debbie to learn how to make a 4-patch quilt. This will be a 2 session class and is suitable for a beginning sewist.  She will teach you how to pick colors for a project, proper cutting, square piecing, pressing, sashing, borders, and all things quilting.  Fabrics for your project will be cut during class.  There will be homework.  The pattern and instruction sheets will be provided by the teacher on the day of class.

Fabric Requirements:

  • 7 fat quarters or at least 10 (1/6 yard) cuts of fabric.  Additional strips or fat quarters will create more variety.
  • 1 1/3 yards background fabric (This will create the sashing and borders)
You'll need to bring the following supplies to class:
  • Sewing machine in good working order that sews a straight stitch, foot pedal, power cord
  • General sewing supplies such as scissors, pins, thread snips, seam ripper, bobbins, thread, pencil or pen for note taking
  • Rotary cutter and acrylic ruler that measures 6" x 24" or 6.5" x 24"
  • Cutting mat that is large enough to cut width of fabric strips (24" x 36" is suggested)
  • Lunch or snacks
